Start of Adventure

Well the day has arrived after much planning and preparation the departure day is here for the start of the adventure, or we call it an adventure when it is really just a bit of a drive around part of Australia ,.

It has been a long Easter break with the lawn mower failing and our Laptop being a little temperamental. The Laptop will only work if you hold the F2 key down, currently with a toothpick, so if the posts to the blog  suddenly finish you know that the symptoms were the precursor to something more sinister. The old girl is about 4 years old so I guess that is about the life span of a computer, but here's hoping.

Have to just refine he packing this morning and we are off to our first destination, Yeppoon, for 5 days.

Well there is work to be done, so more later.

Planning to hit the road

Well, the planning is progressing and the date of departure has been delayed 1 day. This will allow for any rush purchases after the Easter and Anzac day holidays.

We are currently booked at the Big 4 Caravan Park at Yeppoon  for a couple of days just to chill out and get used to not having to get up and go to work every day. I think this sounds very difficult and make involve some reading, fishing and the consumption of a stubby or two.

I have to change the wheel bearings on the camper in the next week or so and check the tires.

Items still to be purchased are, tool box, air compressor and recovery kit, have to look around for these.

We had a trial run to Nyngan last weekend for a wedding and worked out some items we needed in the kitchen and others we could dispense with. It is very difficult to work out clothing for so long, especially as we will be going between Darwin and Melbourne and places such as Alice Springs and Flinders Ranges which Will be quite cold at night.

Reading material is another thing difficult to estimate but we will just have to acquire some along the way. I will be OK with my Agile Project Management books, even the silver fish won't eat those, but Kath is a real bookworm and goes through books like you wouldn't believe.

All for now, will update prior to Easter.
