Tully to Cairns to Tully

We have had a break for a week in Cairns mainly to catch up with Kath's sister and her grand kids.

We stayed at a caravan park www.crystalcascades.com.au  near Redlynch, a suburb of Cairns, and it was brilliant probably one of the best caravan parks we have stayed.

The location was good, about 15 minutes drive from Cairns, the location was quiet, the service great, the facilities clean and, most important for us, there were minimum lights around the park at night.

We had a day out and went to Port Douglas, very much like Noosa but larger, and then went on to Daintree and towards Cape Tribulation, but did not allow enough time to get there and return, so we turned around about 2 thirds of the way there. This was a very enjoyable journey with some interesting lookouts along the way, unfortunately we did not allow enough time to visit all of the side trips, well save for next time.

We are now back in Tully to complete a couple of the tasks we started and to await the birth of Kath's first grand kid, imminent and due tomorrow (Wednesday).

One of the jobs we have to finish is to brand and cut the 100 plus weaners who were taken off their mothers about 10 days ago so that will be an all day job, then probably off to Townsville for a few days.

We are planning to have a few days here after the baby comes home and then turn West and our adventure begins in earnest.

Promised John Golding I would add this one, one of the tractors we have been using.

Kath hard at work holidaying.

Another one for John, getting up close and personal. Only three or four of these jiggers have put us over the fenced in the last couple of weeks, they look nice and friendly but out them in a yard and some of them are not.

Kath moved a metal handled rake into the sun and about 10 of these beautiful frogs popped out, they were living in the hollow handle.

G'day John & Kath

Great photos. Weather looks a lot warmer than here in Canberra (we are heading south for a couple of days to warm up!). Watch out for those cattle - a lot more aggressive than dairy cattle. Look forward to seeing photos of Mount Isa etc

G'day John & Kath
SPOT is working very well - fine tracking around Richmond where I guess you are camped for the night. Good "zoom in", especially the satellite images.
